Objectives & Goals
NSFC plans to become a world leader in economic development based on utilizing forest products more effectively and creating new sustainable employment. Employment is generated by two sources - on the one hand, projects are initiated directly by the NSFC because of their strategic importance and their demonstration value. These will generate direct employment during the course of the FCP funding period and are expected to continue as self-sustaining entities after termination of the FCP program. On the other hand, additional projects from within the communities will be facilitated in order to foster regional innovation. The latter may not create direct employment but will create an environment conducive to long-term investment and learning.
NSFC intends to generate revenues to support research and development in order to create a stream of projects at different stages of realization. NSFC intends to generate significant intellectual property in the form of patents, trademarks, industrial processes, copyrights or other, which it will protect and use as a means to leverage its participation in various ventures in partnerships with the private sector.
