NTFP Technical Team
This team identifies needed inventories and is creating a regional database. The team is responsible for identifing a minimum of three products each year to be inventoried throughout the region and the feasibility of commercial development will be analyzed and the results shared among the region.
The team provides assistance for NTFP business start-ups, including feasibility studies & business plans, Web-based background information, marketing data, sustainability and project financing and contributes to the development of a provincial NTFP association affiliated with the National association. We propose to host the webpage for the Ontario association through the world-class community portal in Chapleau that will link all other relevant sites from around the world and encourage interactivity and commercial exchanges on the portal.
Additionally, the team produces resource materials for NTFP projects including reports, videos, and legal background documents. Specific research activities are conducted which the Technical Team will determine as necessary to de-risk investment, create proprietary intellectual property as well as shoulder some of the late R & D risks of industrial partners. The main point of the research is to conduct experiments and developments that are expected to lead to short term gains for the region.
